Mema Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket REYS, NAPSA cruise into semis

IMPHAL, Apr 11 : REYS, Nagamapal and NAPSA, Kha Imphal posted comfortable quarterfinal victories to enter semi-finals of the ongoing 2nd Khomdram Ongbi Hijam Mema Devi Memorial Veteran T-20 Tournament.
REYS made it to the semi-finals with a 9-wicket win over LCCC, Lilong Chajing today courtesy of half century knocks from Sagatpam Jayenta and Ngairangbam Kenny.
LCCC won the toss and posted 137 runs for 9 wickets after opting to bat first on the back of major contributions from W Srinivas 38 off 20 and Sagolsem Rigen 22 off 20.
The innings saw S Jayenta (3/29), Dhawan (2/30) and Chingkheinganba (2/18) of REYS sharing 7 wickets to make things hard for LCC batters before Sagatpam Jayenta 58 off 42 and Kenny 50 not out off 46 gave REYS a solid start to the chase.
After losing Jayenta to Ashok, Kenny and Dhaneshwor 22 not out sealed the victory (140) in 17.3 overs.
Jayenta deservedly walked away with the man of the match accolade.
Later in the day, NAPSA beat YCC, Wangkhei by 38 runs to set up a semi-final date with REYS.
NAPSA posted 155/6 courtesy of leading performances from Irengbam Ibobi 32 off 36, Premananda 46 off 30 and Ch Somorendra 21 before restricting YCC to 117/7 to seal the 38-run victory thanks to Puthiba (2/26), T Bhogendro (2/15) and Ratan (2/22).
A Sanjit (2/36), A Shivakumar (2/20) and I Everest (2/24) picked two wickets apiece for YCC before they ended up scoring 117 runs in the chase. I Everest topscored for the team with 25 runs to his name followed by Th Goroba 16 not out off 19 and G Binishan 19 not out off 14.
Ratan of NAPSA who scored 15 runs and picked two wickets was adjudged man of the match.
YWC-L will play KCC in the first semi-final match on April 13 from 8.45 am before REYS play NAPSA in the second semi-final match from 12.15 pm.
