VSAI, FLAK reach 23rd Challenge Cup semis

IMPHAL, Apr 11 : VSAI, Thangmeiband and FLAK, Kyamgei reached semi-finals of the 23rd Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament with quarterfinal victories at SAI NERC ground today.
In the first quarterfinal match staged this afternoon, VSAI beat UVSA, Lilong by a solitary goal from Rajesh who made the most of a penalty kick in the 59th minute.
Later in the second quarterfinal match, FLAK outlasted EMV FC, Lamlai by 3-1 goals.
Kh Romen converted a penalty kick in the 36th minute to level it for FLAK after Kh Suresh put EMV FC broke the deadlock early in the fourth minute and Thapa scored a brace (51', 56') to complete the 3-1 beating.
Mayai Lambi FC will play TBSFA, Taobungkhok in the third quarterfinal match tomorrow before Keishamthong FC take on FLAM, Yaiskul in the fourth quarterfinal match.
The 18-team tournament is organised by the Manipur Veteran Football Association.
