One killed, 5 hurt in Ukl clash

Ukhrul, Apr 17 : At least one person was killed while five others sustained injuries as a violent clash broke out between Shangching Village and Lungreiphung Tang in Ukhrul district over a land dispute today at around 2 pm.
Subsequently, Additional District Magistrate Polly Makan has imposed prohibitory order under Section 163 BNSS at the disputed area under Shangshak police station, Ukhrul to prevent further escalation.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Ramyon RK (36), s/o Ramlung RK of Shangching village.
Three residents of Shangching village sustained injuries in the clash and they are Aron RK (36), s/o Ramlung RK (bullet injuries on left side of chest), Joseph RK (54) (right side of the head, jaw, and left shoulder) and Peter RK (73) (back side of head).
Two locals of Lungrei-phung Tang were also hit by bullets in the clash and they have been identified as Rejoice RK (34),  s/o Moses (both his arms and thighs) and Ningshang RK (60) (head and stomach).
The injured were given first aid at the Assam Rifles post at Shangshak, and those with critical injuries were later rushed to Imphal for further medical treatment.
The exact cause and details of the incident are still unclear.
Meanwhile, the Additional District Magistrate of Ukhrul has appointed SDM Ukhrul Dinringam Kamei as the Executive Magistrate to oversee the area between Shangching village and Lungreiphung Tang and prevent further escalation.
Ukhrul and Shangshak police have also been deployed in the area.
