IMPHAL, Apr 21 : The 68th National School Games for U-19 boys and girls; Sepaktakraw for U-17 boys and girls and U-19 boys hosted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur from April 15 to 21 came to a close today.
The competitions organised under the supervision of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), brought together more than 1600 young athletes and officials from across the country showcasing talent, teamwork and sportsmanship at the highest level.
The competitions were conducted at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak practise grounds, Langjing Artificial Turf ground, Eastern Sport Union ground, Indoor Stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
After Manipur swept all the three titles of the Sepaktakraw competition, Kerala and Jharkhand were crowned U-19 boys and girls' football champions. Jharkhand in the meantime finished as U-19 boys runners up as Manipur settled for the U-19 girls' runners up title.
The closing function was attended by PK Singh, IAS, Chief Secretary of Manipur as chief guest; Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS, Principal Secretary (Agriculture/ Forest/ Environment and Climate Change/ Works) as functional president; Dr Mayengbam Veto, MCS, Director YAS; Olympian and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee, N Kunjarani Devi; Olympian Sh Nilakanta Sharma; L Anita Chanu as guests of honour; Anil Kumar Mishra, Observer SGFI; Ved Prakash Yadav , Field Officer and senior officials of YAS as dignitaries.
