REYS hammer PTRC by 9 wickets in 5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy opener

IMPHAL, Apr 22 : REYS, Nagamapal registered a commanding 9-wicket victory against PTRC, Patsoi Part IV in the opening match (Group A) of the 5th edition of the Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy  at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College Ground.
The tournament organised by the Manipur Cricket Association is featuring as many as 24 teams clubbed into four groups.
Asked to bat first, PTRC ended up gathering 128/8 in the absence of their top guns and REYS took just 15.3 overs to seal the victory courtesy of half century knocks by the opening pair of Jaali Ahmed Chisti and Md Basir Rahman.
PTRC suffered early jitter losing Khangembam Santosh to Yungkham Romario Roy in the opening ball itself but Ngariyanbam Jameson and Salam Richie added 66 runs for the second wicket before Kangujam Ringku bowled out Richie for 29 runs off 27 balls.
Jameson was caught behind on highest 38 for the team for the third wicket off the bowling of Laishram Kiran before Chingkham Bidash was cleaned up by Sapam Bikash of REYS who went on to get rid of Rohit Aribam and Stoneson to finish with the best bowling figures of 3/15 in 4 overs.
Pheiroijam Tamarland was unbeaten on 11 off 5 deliveries as PTRC posted a total of 128.
Chasing 129 for the victory, Jaali Ahmed Chisti and Md Basir Rahman started slowly in the opening three overs gathering 18 runs before gradually taking control of the game.
The pair completed 51 for no loss in the fourth delivery of the 6th over Jaali Ahmed Chisti hitting Khangembam Santosh for a six to the long on.
Jaali Ahmed Chisti continued to lead the batting charge and completed his half century (51 off 30 deliveries) hitting Deepak for a four to the deep square leg  and they were just 2-runs away from completing a 100-run partnership in 12.1 over when Pheiroijam Tamarland trapped Jaali Ahmed Chisti on 66 off 44 for the first wicket.
Md Basir Rahman who was playing second fiddle for quite a while then carried forward the momentum and completed the chase as well as his unbeaten 52 off 46 with a lofted shot to the deep mid-wicket for a six off the bowling of Sagolshem Bush.
Jaali Ahmed Chisti who produced a sensational knock off 66 and fashioned the big win was adjudged player of the match.
CYCLONE, Thangmeiband will play SCCC in the Group C league  opener tomorrow at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground before CHAMP take on CRAU later in the day.
