IMPHAL, Apr 23 : Thang-Ta associations of the State joined in paying fitting tributes to the brave heroes of the soil as Manipur observed Khongjom Day commemorating the heroes of Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 fought at Khongjom.
The Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association (HLMTTCA) observed the day at its Irilbung campus with the director of the association, Kakchingtabam Sanathoiba leading others in paying homage to the State heroes who fought valiantly against the mighty British force at Khongjom.
Students and staff of the Thang-Ta institute not only recalled the sacrifice of Paona Brajabashi and other heroes for the sake of the motherland but also offered floral tributes to their photos.
Padmashri and director of the association, K Sanathoiba also delivered a speech on the need for recalling the heroes and carrying forward the legacy of bravery and sacrificial spirit left behind by our brave forefathers, said HLMTTCA in a statement.
The Mangang Luwang Khuman Thang-Ta and Cultural Sindamsang (MLKTTCS) also observed the day at Khongman Mangjil Mamang office this morning.
Thang-Ta players/artistes, gurus, instructors and functionaries of the association offered prayers and floral tributes to the photos of Paona Brajabashi and other Khongjom war heroes, said MLKTTCS in a statement.
Some artistes of the association also demonstrated Thang-Ta moves and offered salutations to the war heroes during the programme, it added.
