IMPHAL, Apr 23: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has accused the Government of India of sustaining the Manipur conflict in order to achieve its geopolitical goals.
COCOMI's Mobilization Committee convenor YK Dhiren made this accusation during the committee's public meeting held at Phumlou Committee Hall today.
At the meeting, organised by COCOMI Phumlou branch, YK Dhiren asserted that even after nearly 2 years of violent conflict, the Government of India has shown no sincere intention to resolve it.
Instead of taking sincere and concrete steps to resolve the conflict, he said, the Centre is trying to push its own narrative which isn't true.
The issues facing Manipur will end when the Government of India reigns in and controls the SoO Kuki militants. However, these militants have been used as "proxy armies" by the Government, he claimed.
Resolving the conflict requires public understanding of the issues facing Manipur today and India's agenda on the crisis, he said and urged the people to attend a scheduled public convention on the issues on May 3.
Similar public meetings were also held at Sekmai, Langthabal Khoupum, Kangla Shangomshang, Top Khongnangkhong and Nambol Kamong.
At the meeting organised by COCOMI Sekmai branch at Sekmai Koujeng Leima Community Hall,  COCOMI convenor Khuraijam Athouba reiterated the committee's assertion that the Government of India has no real intention to resolve the conflict.
He accused the Union Home Minister of changing his narratives of the conflict time and again.
Athouba also condemned the Union Minister describing the conflict as merely a conflict between two communities in the Parliament recently.
He further accused the Government of India of using Myanmar based militants as "proxy army".
