IMPHAL, Apr 24: Indian Youth Congress and Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) have vehemently condemned the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, 2025.
Members of MPYCC gathered at Congress Bhavan here this afternoon and set out on a protest march holding banners which read “Tribute to Pahalgam martyrs: Act against terror, attack against Pakistan–– Justice for Pahalgam victims”.
They also held placards which read “Enough is enough, strike back hard”, “Enough bloodshed, strike terror at its source”, “Terror has a sponsor, the world knows it––Pakistan” etc.
As the protesters came out on BT Road, they shouted slogans like “We want justice” “Down, down BJP”, “Down, down Narendra Modi”, “Down, down Amit Shah”, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah must resign”.
But a strong police force including officers of City police station blocked their path resulting in a tense stand off between the two sides at the gate of Congress Bhavan.
Finally, the protest rally was cut short with the arrival of police reinforcement.
Speaking to the media, All India Youth Congress Committee general secretary and MPYCC in-charge Sarifa Rahman said that everyone knows who is behind the terror attack of April 22 at Pahalgam.
Saying that the terror attack was orchestrated by Pakistan, Sarifa Rahman decried that India is unsafe under the BJP Government.
Questioning how the terrorists infiltrated deep inside Indian territory, killed innocent people and managed to flee to the far away Pakistan border, Sarifa Rahman said that the terrorists could not have escaped to the border without help from the local people and the local Government.
Further questioning the miserable failure of the Indian intelligence agencies, the youth Congress leader asked what Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have been doing.
Jammu and Kashmir, being a Union Territory at present, is being ruled by the Ministry of Home Affairs, he said.
She said that the broad daylight terror attack only exposed the Home Ministry’s failure to protect citizens and other innocent people.
Saying that the terror attack was an act of cowardice which is unacceptable to mankind, she said that the Youth Congress condemns the terror attack in the strongest terms.
She said that the Centre should not sideline the two-year old Manipur crisis in the backdrop of the Pahalgam attack.
Incidents of violent and untoward incidents have been rising across the country under the BJP Government, Sarifa Rahman said.
Saying that the BJP Government is unable to protect innocent people, he maintained that it would not be correct to let the BJP Government continue in office.
MPYCC president Anand Wahengbam asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah should be held accountable for the Pahalgam terror attack.
She added that the Congress party would observe candlelight vigil across the country on April 25 in honour of the victims of Pahalgam terror attack.
