2nd Premier League YSWA beat SU 2-1 as FC Raengdai, WAFA share spoils

IMPHAL, Jul 14 : Youth Social Welfare Association (YSWA), Utlou beat Sagolband United (SU) by 2-1 goals as FC Raengdai, Noney and Wangoi Football Association (WAFA), Wangoi played out a goalless draw in the ongoing 2nd Premier League Second Round matches staged today at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
In the Group D match staged this afternoon, Oinam Birjit (3’) and Khundrakpam Chandra Singha (60') scored two goals for YSWA before Yokshim Awungshi (68') pulled back a goal for the Sagolband side off a penalty.
With the win, YSWA ended their three game losing streak in the second round while it was the second loss of SU in four games following a 2-1 win against KIYC and drew 1-1 with UDO in their second and third matches.
Later in the day, FC Raengai and WAFA shared a point apiece after the two sides drew blank in a fairly evenly matched Group C game.
The result helped FC Raengdai, who had won all three matches, solidify their position on top in the second round table while WAFA follow closely with 8 points from 2 wins and 2 draws.
The remaining matches of the tournament, to be played from July 15, have been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances and the new revised fixture will be issued later, said the All Manipur Football Association in an office memorandum issued today.
