National conference on sustainable development to begin today

IMPHAL, Jul 15 : A three-day National conference on “Role of Techno-Science and Social Science in Transforming Life and Society Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (ROTSSSTLS) 2025” will begin at the auditorium of Manipur University on July 16.
Manipur University is organising the conference in collaboration with Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) and Pan India Manipuri Meitei Scientists and Academicians’ Association (PIMMSAA).
Addressing the press at the Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club this afternoon, Dr L Robindro, general secretary, PIMMSAA said that the target audience of the conference are young students and research scholars.
The conference will provide them with guidance in research work, value added knowledge and information about job placements and post doctoral fellowships.
During the conference, technical sessions and panel discussions on topics related to water sustainability, environment and climatic change, green energy and transport, agriculture and food and health and well-being will be held.
Five keynote speakers will also share their knowledge with the gathering, he added.
Meanwhile, PIMMSAA president Ranjankumar Singh Khaidem said that the association was formed by scientists and academicians working in Central Government offices/organisations.
Sharing that July 16 also marks the 2nd foundation day of PIMMSAA, he added that it is a philanthropic organisation which focuses on education sector and women empowerment.
The members connected virtually a majority of the time to form PIMMSAA in the interest of Manipuri students who have been affected by the restive situation brought on by the 2-year old conflict, said Ranjankumar.
With this National conference, PIMMSAA is attempting to update the students of Manipur on developments in the education sector in the global sphere, he added.
