IMPHAL, Jul 14: Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East, also in-charge of CJM Bishnupur has rejected the bail applications filed by accused persons in connection with the murder case of 21 years old Meitei Salai Thiyam on July 6 afternoon.
Loitongbam Pinky (22) d/o (L) Nilamani of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai, Leishangthem Lanchenba (21) s/o Loken of Hiyang-thang Maning Leikai, Lama- bam Taibangangbi (27) d/o Amuchou of Nagamapal Kangjabi Machin and Yumlembam Kelvin (23) s/o Allen of Palace Compound near Advance Hospital were produced before the Court by a team of Keibul Lamjao police station after completion of the police custody period along with a prayer for remanding them in judicial custody.
On the other hand, defence counsels of the accused persons filed a remand objection along with a prayer for releasing them on bail.
An APP for the State submitted that during the course of investigation, one Khwairakpam Brojen of Thanga Ithing who took video clip and uploaded it in social media which delayed the evacuation of the injured person to hospital was apprehended in connection with the case and Brojen disclosed that he recorded the video since he wanted to know the details of the unknown persons.
He accompanied the injured person to the CHC Moirang for medical treatment.
Khwairakpam Brojen was produced before an Executive Magistrate and released on PR and bail bond.
During interrogation, Loitongbam Pinky disclosed that she along with Lamabam Taibangangbi, Yumlembam Kelvin and Meitei Salai Thiyam were working as security guards of SIS Company and the victim left the company after working for a few months.
Loitongbam Pinky stated that she had a heated argument with Meitei Salai Thiyam regarding their love affairs and misunderstanding within their friend circle.
During the heated argument, Meitei Salai used the highly offensive words “Nama Napa Masak Khangdabagi Macha” which deeply hurt her.
On July 4, she received a message through Guriya, Meitei Salai’s girlfriend, that the victim wanted to talk with her.
On July 5, she received a phone message from Guriya and Yumlembam Kelvin informing that they were planning to visit Sendra with some of their friends and asked if she wanted to join the trip and talk with Meitei Salai.
Pinky agreed to the suggestion and she along with her boyfriend Leishangthem Lanchenba went to Sendra on July 6 and met Lamabam Taibangangbi, Yumlembam Kelvin, Guriya and Meitei Salai Thiyam at Sendra foothill and they proceeded toward Thanga Khunjem together.
At Thanga Khunjem Leikai Pinky had a heated argument with Guriya.
Subsequently, a fight broke out between her boyfriend Leishangthem Lanchenba and Meitei Salai.
In the meantime, she took out a knife from her bag and stabbed the victim on the back.
After committing the crime, she put the knife inside her bag and fled away from the spot along with Leishangthem Lanchenba and surrendered to Nambol police station.
Yumlembam Kelvin disclosed that he joined the SIS Company as a security guard in 2023 and left for further study.
He came to know from Lamabam Taibangangbi that Guriya and Pinky were having disputes regarding the love affairs and misunderstanding within their friend circle and they wanted to settle the matter.
At around 10 am on the day of the incident, Lamabam Taibangangbi, Guriya and Meitei Salai came to his (Kelvin) house and they went to Sendra.
After the stabbing incident, Guriya and the victim left the spot by riding their vehicle to the hospital. He (Kelvin) and Lamabam Taibanganbi followed them.
It can be clearly visualized and revealed during the investigation that Loitongbam Pinky and Leishangthem Lanchenba committed the offence of murder in collusion with the Yumlembam Kelvin and Lamabam Taibanganbi, the APP said.
The APP also submitted that Guriya, the victim’s girlfriend, is willing to give her statement before the Court in connection with the case.
The APP then prayed the Court to remand the accused persons in judicial custody.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP and on perusal of the case record, remanded the accused persons in judicial custody till July 28 after rejecting their bail applications.
Later Leishangthem Lanchenba and Yumlembam Kelvin were taken to Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa while Loitongbam Pinky and Lamabam Taibanganbi were taken to Manipur Central Jail Lambulane by a team of Keibul Lamjao police station.
