Meitei Mayek training begins

JIRIBAM, Jul 15: Meetei Erol Eyek Loinsinlon Apunba Lup (MEELAL), Hojai Pana, inaugurated a Meitei Mayek training programme at Hojai Bishnupur, Assam today.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Loitongbam Prem Kumar, Seram Herajit, president MEELAL Assam, Sinam Thonglen general secretary MEELAL Hojai Pana as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Seram Herajit said that Meetei Mayek, the script and language of the Meetei community has received recognition from the Assam Government. He therefore urged the community members to take this opportunity to learn and promote Meitei Mayek.
Meelal Hojai Pana, vice-president Haobijam Sonia, emphasized that the responsibility to promote and preserve the script lies with every member of the community and therefore called for collective support to the organisation initiative to promote the language.
The training class will be conducted by Rina Singha.
