IMPHAL, Jul 15: A large number of womenfolk belonging to the Kuki community stubbornly prevented security forces from carrying out search operations at Molhoi village, Churachandpur district on July 14 night.
A combined team of Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Force and Assam Rifles went to Molhoi village to carry out search operations as they got information about suspected Kuki militants taking shelter in the village, sources said.
When the security forces started cordoning off the area,  a large number of womenfolk came out and prevented the security forces from entering the village and carry out any search operation.
This was following by a tense stand-off between the two sides.
Even as the security forces made repeated attempts to move toward the village, the womenfolk physically blocked all the roads leading to the village and the stand-off lasted past midnight.
At around 1 am, the security forces withdrew without carrying out any search operation, said the sources.
