DBS Taphou hosts environmental awareness day

SENAPATI, Jul 15: Don Bosco School, Taphou Onaeme, celebrated Environmental Awareness Day today under the theme " Nurture Nature, Save the Future" at the school premises.
The event aimed to foster environmental responsibility among students.
The programme was graced by Shangam Shaliwo, IFS, DFO Senapati as the chief guest, Rev Fr Siby Alexander, Parish Priest and Principal of Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Maram Khunou as the guests of honour and Saul Polah, president of Senapati District Catholic Union and Ts Khaia, village chairman of Onaeme Taphou as special guests.
During the event, the distinguished guests delivered impactful speeches highlighting the urgency of environmental preservation and the importance of educating the younger generation.
The student-led exhibition showcased creative displays on environmental crises, their causes, effects and solutions, including exhibits of locally found medicinal plants, reflecting the region's rich biodiversity.
The event also featured a tree plantation drive and an environmental rally through the village.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Imphal.
