IMPHAL, Jul 18 : Two judokas and one coach from Manipur are in the National judo team for the FISU World University Games being underway in Essen, Germany from July 16.
Notably Judo coach Oinam Rasheswori and two players Ningthoujam Sheetal Singh and Khaidem Taibanganbi are among the 18-member National team for the games. The Judo competition is due to be held from July 23 to 27.
Oinam Rasheswori is the daughter of late Oinam Irabot and late Oinam ongbi Subadani Leima of Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai. She currently serves as a coach at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Vidyanagar, Bellary, Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Ningthoujam Sheetal (90 kg)’, who won a silver medal at the Taipei Cadet and Junior Asian Cup is the son of Ningthoujam Deben and Ningthoujam ongbi Ibemma Devi of Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang Leikai.
Khaidem Taibanganbi (70 kg), who clinched a gold medal at the Taipei Cadet and Junior Asian Cup, is the daughter of Khaidem Gunamani and Khoirom Bimolata.
The 14-member boys and girls squad led by four officials will compete in the judo event of the games among 392 competitors (university students) from across 60 countries of five continents.
