18th Governor’s Taekwondo Cup UTA dominate senior girls’ Kyorugi tally

IMPHAL, Jul 18 : UTA senior athletes proved their dominance in the Kyorugi events on the second day of the 18th Governor’s Taekwondo Cup being underway at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium winning 3 of 4 gold medals across different weight categories.
M Priyadarshini defeated Wahengbam Martina in an all UTA final for U-46 kg senior girls category as Irom Bijaya and Wahengbam Bidyalaxmi of ASTA settled for the bronze medals.
Nongthombam Sania also beat Naorem Reema in an all UTA final to seal the gold medal as Th Najeimai Zenryo and Sapam Nancy had to settle with the bronze medals.
Thiyam Lucy Devi however clinched the senior girls’ U-53 kg category title beating UTA’s Ningthemcha Lingjensana in the title clash.
Soibam Tina of UTA meanwhile defeated Moirangthem Dolly of HTA to seal the senior girls’ U-73 kg category title.
Junior Girls
Laishram Inunganbi Chanu of IMRTA sealed the junior girls’ U-55 kg category title beating Thokchom Juliya of NSA  in the final as Nameirakpam Matouleibi of IMRTA and Hawaibam Chanu of UTA settled for the bronze medal.
The junior girls’ U-68 kg category title went to Kangjam Taniya of IMRTA who defeated Kangabam Malemnganbi in the title bout today.
In the junior girls +68 kg category event final, HTA’s Wahengbam Deepali defeated Kangjam Sinthoi of TTS Nambol to seal the gold medal.
Junior Boys
The day also saw Moirangthem Nivasis of SAI defeated Ahanthem Thomson of UTA for the junior boys’ U-45 kg title as Laishram Rohit of HIM beat TTA  Khangabok’s Saikhom Nungshiba for the U-48 kg category gold.
Elangbam Yoihenba of TTA in the meantime sealed the junior boys’ U-51 kg category gold defeating Bm Abdul Hafiz of STTA in the title bout while Y Obid of NSA clinched the U-55 kg category title beating K Korounganba of UTA in the final.
Nandeibam Anish on the other hand won the junior boys’ U-59 kg category title beating Ningthoujam Tomba of SAI in the final as Waribam Nitish of NSA and Yaithengbam Bimolchand of LFC settled for the bronze medals.
SAI’s medal haul continued with Thokchom Naoboy beating Irom Siraj of UST in the U-63 kg category final before RK Jemsana of UTA beat Okram Daman for the U-68 kg category title today.
Lourembam New Zealand of PTA meanwhile sealed the U-73 kg category gold by defeating Mannat Thakhur of SAI in the final as Senjam Galileo of HIM picked the U-78 kg category title beating B Prince of UTA in the final bout.
