Rehabilitation effort on, says DC

IMPHAL, Jul 19: The Manipur State Legal Services Authority, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority, organised a legal aid and awareness campaign at Mandap Yumpham Relief Camp, Khurkhul today.
The legal aid and awareness programme focused on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 and Domestic Violence Act 2025.
Speaking at the programme, Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar said steps are being taken up for return and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons.
For the resettlement of the IDPs and their rehabilitation, the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts are working in close coordination, he said.
The return/resettlement of the IDPs to their original places will be carried out in a phased manner, he added.
For the return and resettlement of the IDPs, Rajkumar said that the Deputy Commissioners are identifying IDPs staying in their respective districts based on their domicile, and also identifying places where resettlement is feasible.
Further, the district administration has identified and prepared lists of IDPs staying in Imphal West, but belonging to other districts. Steps are being taken up to shift them to their respective districts, he added.
He also spoke on the POCSO Act and Domestic Violence Act.
