WARD Club fetes World Police and Fire Games’ double gold medallists Rani

MOIRANG, Jul 19 : The Wapokpi Athletic Rural Development Club today accorded a warm reception to Assistant Sub-Inspector Soram Rani who won two gold medals in the U-70 kg category armwrestling event in the World Police and Fire Games 2025 that was held from June 27 to July 6 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Soram Rani, born to Soram Lalmani and late Soram ongbi Mema of Ithai Wapokpi, serves as an ASI at the 9th IRB Mahila Battalion.
She defeated her Taiwan rival in the left hand final and Germany rival in the right hand competitions to earn both the gold medals for India at the prestigious tournament hosted in the United States of America.
The reception programme was attended by Retd DI Moirangthem Megha; Ahanthem Sanjoy; WARD Club president Soibam Tomba; W Shobha; cultural activist Ranjit Ningthouja among others as presidium members who also encouraged Soram Rani to excel in future competitions.
Speaking at the occasion, Rani also shared the challenges she faced during her visit to the USA but expressed relief as she overcame all pressure to emerge on top in the competition she was in and was able to bring laurels to the Nation and the State.
Seeking continued blessing from all quarters, she also affirmed to make all possible effort  to carry forward the sporting legacy and bring home more recognition and achievement.
