YDO crowned overall team champions of 3rd IE District Level Fencing Championship

IMPHAL, Jul 20 : YDO, Uchekon Moriba were crowned overall team champions of the 3rd Imphal East District Level Fencing Championship organised by the Imphal East District Fencing Association at Fencing Hall, Khuman Lampak.
YDO finished atop with a rich haul of 12 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals to claim the overall team title and lifted the Atom Ibomcha Meitei Memorial Trophy dedicated by Atom Chittaranjan.
Khongman Fencing Academy, Khongman Zone-IV meanwhile finished team runners up with on the back of 5 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze medals and bagged the Wahengbam KulaSingh and Wahengbam Ongbi Apabi Devi Memorial Trophy (rolling) donated by W Olendrajit.
Poloi Club, Chingarel Tejpur in the meantime finished overall second runners up on 7 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals and walked away with the Haobam Chaoba Singh Memorial Trophy.
Notably, YDO who also sealed the overall team champions titles of the boys and girls’ sections also received Ongnam Nabakumar Singh Memorial Trophy and W Ranjit Singh Memorial Trophy.
The curtain was drawn on the championship with a closing ceremony that was attended by Sinam Pritamkumar, Additional Secretary to the Governor of Manipur and president of Manipur Fencing Association; Atom Chittaranjan, president, Imphal East District Fencing Association; and Dr Mayengbam Veto, Director Youth Affairs and Sports as presidium members.
