IMPHAL, Jul 20 : Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra has accused the BJP of violating the Indian Constitution. Addressing an event organised by Khurai Block Congress Committee at Khabeisoi Mamang Leikai, the Congress MLA from Wangkhem Assembly Constituency stated that the BJP Government has put the people of Manipur through immense suffering.
He also stated that the BJP undermines the ethos of democracy and violates the rules and regulations of the Indian Constitution. Questioning whether there is any governance in Manipur, he appealed to the people to unite and work together to protect the Indian Constitution from the BJP. Manipur is plagued by a breakdown in law and order, restricted movement, rising unemployment, and a collapsed economy under the BJP regime, he charged. The Congress MLA further pointed out that the Prime Minister hasn't visited Manipur in over two years since the crisis began, during which many lives have been lost. Further alleging that the BJP isn't working towards forming a popular government in Manipur, he added that despite expectations that President's Rule would bring relief, it has yielded the opposite results. He said that the people should teach the BJP a fitting lesson and not allow them to continue their rule. Ex MP Dr Thokchom Meinya also attended the programme.
