Habitual vehicle lifter sent to judicial custody

IMPHAL, Jul 21 : The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate has remanded 20-year-old Md Yasin, a habitual vehicle lifter, to judicial custody till August 4.
Accused Md Yasin, s/o Md Sana of Sora Maning Leikai was produced before the Court with prayer to send him to judicial custody by a team of Singjamei police today.
According to the APP of the case, Yasin was arrested on July 14 at around 7.40 pm by Singjamei police.
The accused was signalled to stop at Kakwa Bazar, but he attempted to flee, prompting the police to pursue him. The pursuit ended with the accused being detained near ISOR School at Thongju Part II. The Singjamei police had received prior information about a vehicle stolen in Imphal East, and when they checked the registration number plate of the vehicle driven by Yasin, it matched the stolen vehicle's registration number, leading to his arrest.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had previously been arrested on March 7, 2023, for stealing a Honda Activa from near the overbridge and was remanded to judicial custody.
He also confessed to stealing the two-wheeler from JNIMS on July 14, after finding it unattended, and attempting to escape through a shortcut toward Konung Mamang before being apprehended by the police at Thongju Part II area.
The Court after hearing the submission remanded the accused to judicial custody till August 4.
