IMPHAL, Jul 22: Five people belonging to the Chin-Kuki-Mizo groups were killed in a clash among militants of a particular group that took place in a remote jungle of K Daveijang, Noney district under Nungba police station.
Sources informed that the incident took place some distance away from Longpi village at around 2 am on July 22, 2025.
Even though police have received information of the killing, the details could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report as the clash site is around 50 Kms away from Nungba police station and the road leading to the site is also not motorable.
Moreover, it is said that no mobile phone network is available at the clash site.
The five individuals killed today earlier worked as cadres of United Tribal Volunteers (UTV) in Jiribam district. They recently joined a militant group called Chin-Kuki-Mizo Army (CKMA), said the sources.
The deceased are suspected to be Alex, Seiboi, Pongba, Rambo and Ringo but their full names and addresses could not be ascertained so far.
According to the sources, all five of them were killed by fellow cadres of CKMA. The men who shot them dead are working under CKMA leader Seiboi.
Another source said that a group of 11 militants were staying together under the leadership of Seiboi. From among this group, a band of six led by one Mangmingthang Haokip killed the five others including Seiboi.
After killing the five fellow cadres, the band led by Mangmingthang fled away from the spot taking a number of weapons with them.
Majority of the militants killed today and their killers were trained recently. Their leader Seiboi was well known among Kuki militant groups and he took active part in the clashes that took place in Mizoram.
A late report said that all the deceased and their killers were working under one Paolen Guite of CKMA and the five were shot dead while they were sleeping.
Although the real reason and motive for killing their fellow cadres are not known yet, it is suspected that there were certain disagreements among them.
It is suspected that the six of them killed the five other fellow militants including their leader Seiboi to take their weapons.
