Petition dismissed

IMPHAL, Jul 22 : The High Court of Manipur has dismissed the election petition filed by former MLA Y Antas Khan against Lilong AC MLA Md Abdul Nasir, along with all connected applications, due to non-prosecution.
A single bench of Justice Ahanthem Bimol passed the judgment order yesterday.
The Court noted that the petitioner, Y Antas Khan, had failed to proceed with the election petition despite multiple opportunities, and neither he nor his counsel appeared on several occasions. The respondent's senior counsel submitted that the petitioner's absence and lack of cooperation made it impossible to continue the proceedings.
Yesterday also none appeared on behalf of the election petitioner.
Accordingly, senior counsel appearing for the respondent prayed for dismissing the election petition as well as the connected application.
After examining the order sheet and considering the submissions, the Court agreed with the respondent's counsel and dismissed the petition for non-prosecution.
