Nagaland on alert

IMPHAL, Jul 22 : The Nagaland Government has issued an advisory directing all Deputy Commissioners to heighten vigilance and take proactive measures to prevent any potential influx of illegal immigrants within their respective jurisdiction.
The advisory was issued in view of the eviction drive against illegal encroachers undertaken by the Government of Assam and the risk of some displaced individuals attempting to cross into Nagaland.
It is worth remembering that on July 18 Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had claimed that people from as far as Manipur are coming to encroach land in Assam and reaffirmed his Government's commitment to clear all areas under illegal possession including forest land.
