Fitting tributes paid to Rabina, Sanjit

IMPHAL, Jul 23 : Thokchom Rabina and Chungkham Sanjit who were shot dead in broad daylight at Khwai-ramband Keithel on July 23, 2009 were fondly remembered today.
The 16th death anniversary of Th Rabina and Ch Sanjit was held today at Taothong Khunou Thamnapokpi community hall under the aegis of the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Th Rabina.
The death anniversary function was marked by offering homage and floral tributes to the portraits of Rabina and Sanjit.
JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Th Rabina president Nahakpam Memcha, Taothong Khunou Women Welfare Association advisor Achom Jilangamba and Nupi Khunai Lamsang Keithel president Kshetrimayum Rasi attended the death anniversary function as presidium members.
Speaking at the gathering, JAC convenor Ahanthem Shila said that the brutal killing of Rabina and Sanjit in broad daylight at Khwairamband Keithel on July 23, 2009 is still fresh in the memory of the people and the brutal incident continues to haunt the collective conscience of the people.
She said that the JAC has been observing the death anniversary of Rabina and Sanjit every year seeking justice in the form of awarding exemplary punishment to all those people involved in the brutal killing.
Notably, Thokchom Rabina and Chungkham Sanjit were hit by bullets and they died on the spot.
Some days later, Tehelka Magazine published a damning sequence of photographs proving that Sanjit was killed in a fake encounter.
