IMPHAL, Jul 24 : Imphal East U-15 and U-17 boys produced a dominant display in the ring to secure 7 gold medals and 6 silver medals on the fourth day of the State Level Boxing Championships 2025 at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Leimapokpam Mahesh of Kakching sealed the U-17 boys 70 kg category title with a huge 5-0 win over Hemam Rajdaneil of Bishnupur via unanimous decision. Khundom Lanchenba of Imphal East in the meantime sealed the 63 kg category title defeating Irom Kangleiwang of Imphal West in the same fashion.
The U-17 Boys’ 57 kg category title went to Khangchrakpam Mangal of Imphal West who prevailed 5-0 against Pungshumbam Abhinash of Imphal East as Khaidem Lanchenba of Kakching bagged the 60 kg category title by defeating Imphal East’s Sandham Victor 4-1 via split decision.
Imphal East’s Usham Thoiba in the meantime clinched the U-17 boys’ 46 kg category gold medal beating Kakching’s M Renson 4-1 via split decision before Lairenlakpam Ambekar of Imphal East registered a KO win against Ukhrul’s Worthyso Vashi to seal the 48 kg category title. Kakching’s Moibungkhong-bam Lanchenba in the meantime earned the 50 kg category title by defeating Laishangbam Uningbam Khuman of Imphal West in the final.
Thoubal’s Thongram Manithoiba emerged the 52 kg category champion as he beat Wangthoi Chirom of Imphal West 5-0 via unanimous decision before Salam Diamond of Imphal West bagged the 54 kg category title by defeating Md Alam of Thoubal in the same fashion.
U-15 Boys : Imphal East amass 4 gold
Meanwhile, Chingakham Nunshithoi of Imphal East was adjudged 37 kg category winner for U-15 boys without breaking a sweat before Kakching’s Yumnam Lanthoiba prevailed 5-0 over Imphal East’s Shahil for the 43 kg category title.
Khundom Robert of Imphal East on the other hand claimed the 49 kg category title with a commanding 5-0 win over Nongmaithem Thoithoiba of Bishnupur in the final before compatriot Thangjam Jerison sealed an identical win against Ukhrul’s Shangmei Khayi for the 52 kg category title.
Thoubal’s Rajkumar Athoisana however claimed the 55 kg category title with an easy 5-0 win against Laishram Nonglenkhomba of Imphal East in the title clash while his compatriot Lukram Lilmani edged Imphal East’s Chingakham Reynil 3-2 via split decision to claim the 58 kg category title.
Imphal East’s Konthoujam Raju in the meantime sealed the 61 kg category title for U-15 boys as he sealed an RSC win against Yumlembam Sanathoiba of Bishnpur in the third round of the title clash.
Pebam Joyhenba of Imphal East also made it to the 46 kg category final with an RSC win in the second round against Sougrakpam Welson of Thoubal in a semi-final bout.
Venika vs Karuna in Elite Women’s 48 kg final
The day also saw Yumnam Venika Chanu of Bishnupur setting up the 48 kg category final date for Elite Women with Huidrom Karuna of Thoubal.
Venika notched up a huge 5-0 win against Wangjam Ethoibi of Imphal West in a semi-final clash to enter the final before Huidrom Karuna pulled off a similar win against Sanasam Bandana of Kakching in another semi-final match.
Meanwhile, Elangbam Thoithoi Chanu of Kakching edged out Maibam Rosemary Chanu of Bishnupur 4-1 to enter 51 kg category final as Ahongshangbam Kajal of Imphal West overwhelmed Maibam Rosita of Thoubal to seal a place in the 54 kg category final.
Menaka vs Geetanjali in U-19 Women’s 60 kg category title clash
The day also witnessed Sharungbam Menaka of Imphal East thump Nimsolan Khapai Shimrah of Ukhrul 5-0 to make her way to the U-19 Women’s 60 kg category final before Thokchom Geetanjali had an RSC win in the first round against Nongthombam Luxmi of Bishnpur in the other semi-final clash.
Earlier in the day, Loitongbam Luxmi prevailed 5-0 over Tamenglong’s Lanchalu Malangmei to book her place in the U-19 Women’s 54 kg category final before Loitongbam Alia Chanu of Bishnupur sealed an RSC win against Elangbam Chingkheinganbi of Kakching in the second round of the 57 kg category semi-final bout for U-19 Women.
