Govt launches 11 IT centres

IMPHAL, Jul 24 : The State Government has operationalised 11 IT centres across violence affected districts under the "IT Centre in Violence  Affected Districts" scheme approved at a total cost of Rs 11 crore by MHA.
In a press release, Commissioner cum Secretary (Home) N Ashok Kumar said that the initiative aims to provide seamless internet access and create computer based examination infrastructure in affected  areas to support the rehabilitation and empowerment of displaced and vulnerable populations.
1100 computer nodes have been installed under the scheme, he said and added that the IT centres have been established at Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul, Jiribam, Chandel, Bishnupur, Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Senapati.
He added that Rs 11 crore was released to the  respective Deputy Commissioners through the Director (Relief and Rehabilitation), Manipur as part of the Special Package of Rs 209.45 crore sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Saying that these IT are being utilised for online National examination including NEET PG, NAT CUET PG, Indian Army recruitment exam, Staff Selection Commission exams and civil services and skill based training programme for internally displaced people and the general public.
