State Level Boxing Championship Imphal West’s L Jackson clinches Elite Men’s 70 kg category title

IMPHAL, Jul 25 : Imphal East  (IE) and Imphal West (IW) boxers shared 11 medals apiece as the State Level Boxing Championship entered 5th day today at the Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Imphal East added 7 gold and 4 silver medals to further stretch their gold medal tally to 14 gold and 10 silver while Imphal West added 8 gold and 3 silver medals today to swell their gold medal haul to 10.
Elite Men
Laishram Jackson of IW sealed the Elite Men’s 70 kg category title today beating Bishnupur’s (BPR) Ningthoujam Borish 5-0 via unanimous decision.
Thoubal’s (Tbl) Thokchom Tompok earlier sealed the 50 kg category title beating Md Mujahid of Kakching (KAK) 5-0 as Thongam Leninson of IW clinched the 65 kg category title with an identical win against Tbl’s Okram Gung.
Kongjengbam Roshan of IW also emerged on top in the Elite men’s 60 kg category competition with a commanding 5-0 win against Laishram Romance of Tbl.
U-19 Men
Ukhrul’s Chingrihor Shatshang emerged the U-19 men’s 50 kg category winner today as he sealed a 4-1 split decision win against Thokchom Thoiba of Tbl before IE’s Md Abdul Noor notched up the 55 kg category title with an easy 5-0 win over Bpr’s Thokchom Rishi.
The 60 kg category title also went to IE with Moirangthem Lanngamba handing Chonreihor Y Shimray of Ukhrul a 5-0 defeat before compatriot RK Yumkhaibam sealed an RSC win in the first round against Tbl’s Laishram Max.
U-15 Boys
Akham Bishorjit also added a gold medal to IW’s tally by defeating IE’s Pebam Joyhenba in the 46 kg category final.
U-15 Girls
The day also saw Lairenjam Sujen of IW emerging winner in the U-15 girls’ 52 kg category competition with an overwhelming 5-0 win against her KAK rival Thingnam Malemnganbi.
Ukhrul’s Lanthing Rainam in the meantime won the 49 kg category title with a 4-1 win against KAK’s Yumnam Lannganbi as Khumukcham Anamika Chanu of IE sealed the 46 kg category title with a 5-0 win against N Priyangka of Tbl in the final.
IE’s Debika Choudhuri-mayum and Ng Tarubi Devi also emerged winners in the 40 and 43 kg category finals.
U-17 Girls
Moirangthem Khrismira of IW was crowned the U-17 Girls’ 46 kg category winner as she beat Laishram Taniya of IE 4-1 in the final before Lamameilu Gangmei of IW prevailed 5-0 against Bpr’s H Lanchenbi for the 48 kg category title.
With an RSC win in the third round against Tbl’s S Thoibicha, Riya Heikham of IW sealed the 50 kg category title before Maria Pame of Tamenglong thumped A Priyangka of Bpr for the 52 kg title; IW’s Radhamani Longjam pulled off an RSC win against Ph Stelia of Tbl for the 57 kg title and Churachandpur’s Mangte Shumneijang Kom beat K Suchitra of IE in the 54 kg title. The 60 kg title in the meantime went to Thoubal’s Saikhom Bema who beat Yumnam Kenita 3-2 via split decision.
U-19 Women
Phuritshabam Renuka of IW emerged the U-19 Women’s 48 kg category winner as she edged Th Sneha of Imphal East  3-2 via split decision.
Bpr’s Loitongbam Bidya and Loitongbam Luxmi also emerged winners in the 51 kg and 54 kg category events by defeating Soram Luwangleima of IW and Ningombam Ripa of IW respectively.
