Rape accused remanded

IMPHAL, Jul 25 : Special Judge POCSO Imphal West has remanded a 25 year old rape accused to police custody on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl on July 16 somewhere under the jurisdiction of Mayang Imphal police station.
Accused Chesam Sahid Khan @ Md Sahid Chesam, s/o Chesam Musha of Bengoon Mamang Leikai was arrested after he surrendered before the Imphal West women police station yesterday.
The accused was produced before the Court by a team of Imphal West women police with a prayer to send him to police custody for smooth investigation of the case.
As per the Special PP of the case, the mother of the victim lodged a complaint to the police on July 16 night, claiming that her minor daughter was kidnapped by the accused and some of his associates who came in two four wheeler vehicles.
She claimed that the accused sexually assaulted her daughter inside one of the cars and threatened her  not to disclose to anyone about the incident.
The complainant said her minor daughter narrated the incident to her after returning home, prompting the registration of a case for investigation.
A team of Mayang Imphal police raided the accused's house on July 17 and subsequent days to apprehend him, but he remained elusive, according to the Special PP and  added that the accused surrendered before the police yesterday.
The accused has accepted the charges levelled against him.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the Special PP remanded the  accused to police custody till July 29.
Meanwhile, the Special Judge POCSO Imphal East remanded two alleged rape accused to judicial custody in connection with a sexual assault case of a minor girl on July 19 night at Tellou Mayai Leikai under Lamlai Police Station Imphal East
Accused Kshetrimayum Ajoy (20), s/o (L) Abung of Tellou Mayai Leikai and Mangsatabam Ajoy (21), s/o Gopeshor of Nongada Kameng Khunjao were produced before the Court by a team of Imphal East women police station on completion of their police custody period with a prayer to send them to judicial custody
The Special PP for the State submitted that the two accused persons were arrested on July 20 based on the complaint lodged by the mother of the minor victim.
During the investigation it was revealed that the accused persons kidnapped the minor victim and sexually assaulted her in a secluded place on the night of July 19.
The Court after hearing the submission of the Special PP, defence counsel and on perusal of the case record remanded the accused to judicial custody till August 8.
