IMPHAL, Jul 25 : The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal announced that it has successfully provided cashless treatment to 35,390 beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) since its rollout in September 2018.
RIMS, in a press release, said that  38 patients register daily for AB-PMJAY at the institute, 25 undergo package enhancement, and 36 complete discharge formalities on average, each process taking between 10 to 30 minutes per patient.
Upon admission, beneficiaries or their relatives must visit the PMJAY office with their Ayushman health card, where Arogya Mitras explain the benefits in Manipuri, Hindi, or English, it added.
Saying that a pre-authorization form filled by the treating team is uploaded to the TMS portal, RMS added that the on-duty pharmacist helps collect medicines and devices from empanelled pharmacies once approved.
Beneficiaries receive SMS confirmation of the sanctioned package amount, which includes a 10 per cent institutional incentive for RIMS, it said and added that discharge procedures are to be completed within 15 days, else approval from SHA CEO is needed.
The scheme covers up to Rs 5 lakh per eligible family per year for hospitalization, chemotherapy, hemodialysis, day care, pre- and post-hospitalization (up to 15 days), and includes charges for registration, surgeries, implants, diagnostics, and patient food, RIMS said.
PMJAY claim revenues at RIMS are utilized as per National guidelines: 15 per cent staff incentives, 15 per cent PMJAY HR, 40 per cent for medicines and diagnostics, 20 per cent for hospital upgrades, and 10 per cent administrative costs, with flexibility for priority needs, it explained.
To become a beneficiary, eligible individuals (as per SECC or SHA criteria) can verify and download their Ayushman Card via https://mera.pmjay.gov.in or visit the nearest PMJAY helpdesk.
At RIMS, the scheme is implemented through a dedicated team of Arogya Mitras.
However, the RIMS administration has received multiple complaints alleging that certain empanelled pharmacies are charging patients amounts beyond the approved package rates, violating PM-JAY’s zero out-of-pocket expenditure policy, it said and added that empanelled pharmacies are strictly prohibited from charging any amount during the treatment period (from admission to discharge) and must provide a minimum 10 per cent discount on medicines.
RIMS warned all empanelled pharmacies  to comply with these guidelines/
The PMJAY Nodal Officer, Pharmacist, and In-Charge at RIMS have been instructed to thoroughly check prescriptions and cash memos to prevent any instance of overcharging, RIMS said.
