Training on Kouna craft ends

IMPHAL, Jul 26: A 20-day training on Kouna craft, organised by Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation at the relief camp opened at Ibudhou Thangjing Guest House at Moirang, Bishnupur district concluded yesterday.
A total of 20 internally displaced women staying at the relief centre participated in the camp.
At the closing ceremony, State Handloom and Textiles Director Elangbam Jiten said that the camp was organised to give skills training to the women IDPs so that they can earn income. He said the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles and the Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation have provided skill training to IDPs at different relief camps across the State. Apart from providing training, the Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation also procures the products the IDPs make and sells them, he said. Efforts are on to intensify the training and enhance the skills of the IDPs to give them means of earning livelihood, he added. Certificates were distributed to the 20 women IDPs at the event.
