69th State Open Junior Badminton Championship 2025 Hemam Malemnganba, Tayenjam Leonie seal U-19 boys and girls’ singles titles

IMPHAL, Jul 26 : Hemam Malemnganba and Tayenjam Leonie emerged U-19 boys and girls singles champions as the 69th State Open Badminton Championship came to a close today at Manipur State Badminton Association’s Indoor Stadium, DM University campus.
Hemam Malemnganba edged Martin Ingudam 21-13 14-21 23-21 in an all Bishnupur (BDBA) final clash to seal the top honour while Leonie Tayenjam of Imphal West (IWDBA) pulled off a 21-15 13-21 21-16 win against Imphal East’s (IEDBA) Konsam Gunjam for the girls’ crown.
The U-9 boys’ singles title in the meantime went to Delrique Pukhrambam of Kakching (KDBA) who defeated BDBA’s Khundrakpam Narjit Singh 21-19 21-11 in the final as  Ningthoujam Rashithoi of KDBA defeated IEDBA’s Seram  Chingkheinganbi 21-10 18-21 21-15 in the U-9 girls’ singles final.
 Thokchom Yangba Meitei of IEDBA in the meantime clinched the U-13 boys’ singles title by securing a  21-12 21-17 win over  IWDBA’s Loitongbam Shannon.
Sarungbam Archana of IEDBA was crowned U-13 girls’ singles winner as she overcame IWDBA’s Sanabam  Jia 21-15 21-14 in the final.
Doubles : Ngangom Rishav wins U-19 boys and mixed doubles titles
Ngangom Rishav of BDBA in the meantime clinched both the U-19 boys and mixed doubles titles at the four day championship organised by the Manipur State Badminton Association.
Ngangom Rishav paired up with Senapati’s (SDBA) Kyoveio Vemai to beat BDBA’s pair of Hemam Malemnganba and Khwairakpam Amarjit 21-10 21-17 to seal the U-19 boys doubles title before combining with Konsam Gunjan of IEDBA for the mixed doubles title as they got the better of Thoubal’s Shaikhom Gung  and Soubam Rekispa 21-17 21-14 in the title clash.
Ngangom Rishav and Kyoveio Vemai sealed their place in the final yesterday with a 21-19 21-18 win over the BDBA-KDBA pair of Longjam Brikson  and Wahengbam Yuvaraj.
U-19 girls’ singles runner up Konsam Gunjan also sealed the girls’ doubles title with Soubam Rekispa by edging past the IWDBA pair of Chirom Bellarix and Khangembam Senlina 21-18 9-21 21-15.
Gunjan and Rekispa Soubam reached the final yesterday with a 21-15 22-20 win over  Ashangbam Devika and Laishram Anjelia Devi.
The pair of Chirom Netcover and Thokchom  Yangba in the meantime sealed the U-13 boys’ doubles title defeating the BDBA pair of Hidangmayum Bishal Sharma and Longjam Biyas Meetei 21-19 13-21 21-17.
Netcover and Yangba entered the final yesterday with a 21-17 21-17 win over Nameirakpam Devasis and Loitongbam Shannon.
On the other hand, the KDBA-IEDBA pair of Elangbam Thoihenbi and Sarungbam Archana were crowned the U-13 girls doubles winners as they thumped IWDBA-IEDBA pair of Sanabam Jia and W Anjelina  21-10 21-19 in the title clash. Thoihenbi and Archana, yesterday pulled off a 21-12 21-7 semi-final win against Sarungbam Romibala and Thingbaijam Bebina to book their final ticket.
The closing function of the championship was attended by Y Khemchand, MLA Singjamei AC as chief guest; Thongam Biswajit, MLA Thongju AC and president of MSBA as functional president; Sagolshem Kebi, MLA, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC and S Premchandra, MLA Kumbi AC as guests of honour.
