Dr Kangabam Romeo appointed as director of National Adventure Foundation, Manipur Chapter

IMPHAL, Jul 26 :  The National Adventure Foundation (NAF), the apex body of Adventure Sports in India headquartered in New Delhi, has recently appointed Dr Kangabam Romeo Meetei, a renowned adventurist and mountaineer, as the director of the National Adventure Foundation, Manipur Chapter.
The appointment order was formally handed over to Dr Romeo Meetei at the NAF Office, New Delhi, by Wing Commander KK Verma (Retd), executive director of NAF, in the esteemed presence of Lieutenant General Raman Dhawan, AVSM, VSM, ADC, president of National Adventure Foundation, said the Manipur Sports Climbing Association (MASCA) in a statement.
This momentous appointment marked a proud achievement for the State of Manipur, as Dr Romeo brings over four decades of dedicated service and experience in the field of Adventure Sports, Mountaineering and Sport Climbing in India, it said.
His illustrious career includes leading multiple international expeditions, international competitions, Guinness World Record and most notably a record-breaking and highly successful Mount Everest Expedition, it said.
He has been a torchbearer in promoting adventure sports and has played a significant role in youth development through outdoor leadership and experiential learning. His contributions have been widely recognized, including being conferred Arunachal Pradesh's highest “State Award – the Gold Medal" - twice during his tenure in the State, it said.
With the new role, Dr Romeo Meetei is expected to further elevate the standards and outreach of adventure activities in the Manipur and Northeast region, fostering a spirit of courage, resilience, and environmental stewardship among the youth, it said.
MASCA expresses heartfelt gratitude to the NAF Delhi and extends best wishes to Dr Romeo for success in all his future endeavors, it said.
Dr Romeo, currently serving as a Faculty in Dept of Teacher Education, Manipur University, Visiting Faculty at National Sports University, Manipur and the president of Manipur Sport Climbing Association.
