IMPHAL, Jul 28: A substantial quantity of arms, ammunition, explosives and other items were recovered during search operations carried out by joint teams of Manipur Police, Central Armed police force, Army and Assam Rifles in the last few days.
Briefing media persons at Manipur Police headquarters this afternoon, IGP (Intelligence) Ningshen Worngam stated that security forces comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Army and CAPFs conducted extensive search operations in the hill districts of Manipur in the last few days.
There is however no report of anyone being pulled up with the guns.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of large cache of arms, ammunition, and other warlike materials concealed in various locations, coordinated operations were launched simultaneously at multiple sites in the interior and suspected areas of Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Kangpokpi, Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.
The search operations resulted in the recovery of a substantial number of arms, ammunition, explosives and other warlike stores.
The recovered arms, ammunition and explosive items include eight AK rifles, two Insas rifles, one SLR, one sniper with telescope, one M4 Rifle, two .303 rifles, eight 9 mm pistols, four carbines, 14 number of 12 Bore, one .22 rifle, one Gren LR, five single barrel rifle, five SBBLs, 14 counter made pistols, one shotgun, four lathod, 21 single bore, three muzzle loaded rifles, 21 pompis,  eight double barrel guns and 13 single barrel guns.
In total 155 weapons were recovered, Ningshen Worngam said.
He further stated that the security forces also recovered 13 hand grenades, 1600 rounds of assorted ammunition, 39 IEDs, four binoculars, 15 communication sets and one telescope.
The IGP (Intelligence) said that such continued intelligence-led operations in the hill districts represent a major accomplishment for the Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Army and other security forces in their continued mission to restore peace, uphold public order, and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
Saying that Manipur Police are committed to fostering a peaceful and secure Manipur, he urged the public to cooperate with the Police, Assam Rifles, Army and other security forces and promptly report any suspicious activity or information related to illegal arms to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room.
Senior police officials remain in close coordination with all security stakeholders to ensure that such operations continue in a sustained and focused manner so as to restore normalcy, maintain public order and safeguard the lives and property of all citizens, he added.
