IMPHAL, Jul 28 : North Eastern Re-Organising Cultural Association Football Club (NEROCA FC) who are all set to compete in the 134th Durand Cup Manipur leg got new jerseys today during a solemn function held at Hotel Classic Grande’s Dynasty Hall.
Officials of NEROCA FC, sympathisers, sponsors and others attended the programme.
Speaking at the occasion, secretary of NEROCA FC said that the club is set to appear in the prestigious tournament organised by the Indian Army for the third time.
The club produced an impressive performance in the first appearance in Kolkata, he said.
Maintaining that the club was reluctant to participate in this edition of the tournament at first and the matter was discussed during multiple executive committee meetings before finally arriving to the decision for participation considering future opportunities, the secretary disclosed.
Following the end of the previous season, the club has been reconstructed by roping in 9 youth players and three imports, one each from Ghana, Nigeria and Latvia in addition to the existing senior set up, he said.
Angom Kines and Y Rohid were also announced as the captain and the vice captain of the team.
While appreciating the unwavering support to the club from all quarters of the society, the officials of the club also said that they will strive their best to give best performances and live upto the expectations of the State fans.
