Durand Cup Manipur Leg SP Traffic Control Police Wing charts out plan to ensure smooth traffic movement on match days

IMPHAL, Jul 28 : The Superintendent of Police of Traffic Control Police Wing has charted out a detailed plan to ensure smooth traffic and public movement in and around Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Durand Cup match days as Manipur host the Asia’s oldest football tournament for the second time from July 30 onwards.
Entry and exit points
As per a traffic advisory issued in this regard, Gate Number 2 (Indoor Stadium side), 3 (hockey stadium side) and 5 (9th Bn IRB gate) have been set as entry and exit points for general public while HUDCO gate, and Gate Number 1 (western gate) and 4 (rugby ground) have been restricted for general public.
Public parking areas
The general public can park their vehicles at 6 venues, three inside Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and 3 outside the complex. Inside the venues, vehicles can be parked near the indoor stadium, near the basketball court and the junction point of the swimming pool and Kang Sang. Meanwhile the parking venues outside the complex include ISBT campus, RAU ground and NCC ground, and DMU campus.
Once the parking is full inside the Khuman Lampak Sports complex, entry of vehicles will be restricted and the public should follow on-ground instructions, it said.
Road Closure
The road from Pandon Crossing to MMTA, Banyan Tree crossing will be closed to general traffic during the matches , the advisory read.
Traffic Diversion
Vehicles may be diverted from Minuthong Junction to Lamlong Thong and Sanjenthong routes as and when required based on traffic situation and operational needs, it said.
Important instructions to public
Entry gates will be opened at 1 pm on July 30 and spectators are strongly advised to arrive early to avoid last minute rush and ensure hassle free entry, it said.
Public parking is limited inside the sports complex and thus walking and use of two wheelers to the main venue to avoid congestion is advisable, it said while instructing all to avoid roadside parking as it may result in penalties and vehicles getting towed.
The advisory also instructed all spectators and the general public to follow traffic police instructions at all points and cooperate with security and parking staff for crowd and vehicle management.
It also urged the general public and spectators to cooperate to ensure safe and successful conduct of the Manipur leg of the tournament.
