Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, today virtually laid the foundation stone for construction of hostels in different schools across Manipur under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) and Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
The Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) aims at uplifting tribal communities through education and infrastructure development.
Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam attended the virtual foundation laying ceremony at Naree Kalyan Vidyalaya, Nambol Sabal Leikai in Bishnupur district.
The ceremony at the school premises was organised under the supervision of the Directorate of Education (S).
Speaking on the occasion, Pooja Elangbam expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Education for the initiative, highlighting its potential to significantly  benefit the students.
She stressed the importance of education as the pillar of society, underlining the need for continuous efforts to strengthen the educational system.
The DC stated that strengthening the education system is essential for building a better future and nurturing a responsible society.
She also urged educators to focus on holistic development, rather than limiting learning to academics alone.
Calling for a more empathetic approach, she said, teachers need to listen to students' concerns, guide them with patience, and encourage them to grow—rather than scolding them for minor mistakes.
Yumnam Bhochao Singh, Chief Engineer (EEW), ZEO Atom Gunami and several officials attended the event.
