IMPHAL, Jul 29: A 25 year-old rape accused has been sent to judicial custody for committing sexual assault on a minor girl on July 16 somewhere under the jurisdiction of Mayang Imphal police station.
Accused Chesam Sahid Khan alias Md Sahid Chesam (25) s/o Chesam Musha of Bengoon Mamang Leikai was arrested after he surrendered before the Women Police Station on July  24.
The accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge POCSO Imphal West by a team of Women Police Station, Imphal West after the completion of police custody period along with a prayer for judicial custody remand.
A Special PP for the State submitted that on July 16 night, mother of the minor victim lodged a complaint to the police stating that her minor daughter was kidnapped by the alleged accused and his associates coming in a Bolero jeep and Celerio car bearing registration number other States and committed sexual assault upon the minor inside the car.
The accused also threatened the minor victim not to disclose the incident to anyone about the incident.
When her minor daughter returned home, she narrated the incident to her mother (complainant).
Based on the complaint, a case was registered for investigation.
On July 17, a team of Mayang Imphal Police raided the house of the alleged accused but he could not be found.
The accused surrendered before the Women police station on July 24 in connection with the case.
During interrogation, the alleged accused admitted to have committed the charge levelled against him, the Special PP said and prayed the Court for remanding the accused in judicial custody.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the Special PP, remanded the accused persons in judicial custody till August 12 for further investigation of the case.
