IMPHAL, Jul 30 : Issuing a notice of stricture, the United Naga Council (UNC) has instructed all members of the Naga community to refrain from participating in the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples hosted by "unman-dated organisation" Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur on August 9 at City Convention, Palace Compound, Imphal.
In the notice, UNC maintained that it has time and again reminded all the tribe Hohos to refrain from attending any meeting, convention, event, hosted/organised by unmandated organisations as it is tantamount to wilful confrontation to the aspiration of the Nagas.
While extending solidarity to the indigenous communities/peoples of the world, UNC urged all members of the Naga community, old and young, to abstain from attending the said meeting and to prioritize the well-being and protection of the community's rights and interests.
Any "recalcitrant" individual/tribe participating in the scheduled event/programme should not take the name of one's tribe and speak on behalf of the Nagas, cautioned the UNC notice.
