IMPHAL, Jul 31: The indefinite bandh called by the Foothill Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) has completed 13 days and as such, movement of Kukis in Naga areas is still prohibited.
The FNCC called the indefinite bandh protesting against the proposed construction of the so-called Tiger/German road through Naga areas, poppy plantation and relocation of camps of Kuki-Zo militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement.
As the road connecting Kangpokpi to Churachandpur has been cut off by the bandh for the past 13 days, people who use the road for travelling between Kangpokpi and Churachandpur have been facing lots of difficulties, sources said.
Bandh supporters came out in large groups at different places and shouted slogans denouncing the unlawful and aggressive activities of the Kukis.
One of the protesters said that no German/Tiger road should be constructed through Naga areas and the unofficial road should be erased completely.
He said that no camp of Kuki militants should be relocated in Naga areas and no poppy plantation should be done in Naga areas.
Expressing strong resentment against the complete silence of the Government even though the indefinite bandh against the unlawful and aggressive activities of the Kukis has completed 13 days, the protester warned that the State Government and the Government of India must bear responsibility for any untoward incident resulting from the bandh.
