Imphal, Aug 22 : Professor Shanta Laishram of the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi who led the Indian team in the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad 2025 was felicitated by Khangabok Assembly Constituency MLA Surjakumar Okram today at his official residence at Babupara, Imphal.
The Olympiad was held at Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia from July 10 to 20, 2025, according to a statement. Professor Shanta Lai-shram is from Khangabok AC.
The Indian team consisting of 10 members, including six contestants, bagged three gold, two silver and a bronze medal.
It placed 7th in the overall ranking among more than 120 countries who participated in the Olympiad.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Okram Surjakumar called it a matter of great pride that someone from his Constituency led the Indian team in such a prestigious international event.
He described Professor Laishram Shanta as a mathematical genius and an asset to the country.
