IMPHAL, Sep 12 : Sapamcha Jadumani, president of the Federation of Haomee (FoH), has called for unity among the indigenous communities to collectively address the challenge of demographic imbalance in the State.
He made the statement during a programme held at Shungriphai Village in Kamjong as part of 'Know Your Identity' awareness campaign organised by FoH since 2018.
The programme was participated by locals of Shungriphai and 13 adjacent villages
Addressing the function, Jadumani alleged that the Government of India has been supporting Kuki militant groups who have been violent towards Meiteis.
Jadumani said the violent campaign of Kukis is not only against the Meiteis but against the entire indigenous people and claimed that the future of Manipur will be uncertain if the indigenous people don't unite and face the challenge together.
He also claimed that the ILP movement in Manipur was sparked by the Government of India's policy of population dilution in the State.
He, meanwhile, announced that a memorial stone bearing the names of indigenous communities will be unveiled at Sawombung on October 6.
FoH vice president D K Heera Kabui and Shungriphai headman Chithung Ningkhalem also attended the programme.
