IMPHAL, Sep 12 : On the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, the Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur has submitted a memorandum to Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and  Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla requesting an immediate and independent intervention to address the issues at National Sports University (NSU).
Highlighting their concerns, a press release issued by Dr Atom Sunil Singh, Director, AIMS asserted that NSU is facing a severe crisis today over the non-appointment of a regular Vice-Chancellor even after two interviews were conducted for the selection.
Moreover, AIMS alleged that no effort has been made to shift the University to its permanent site at Koutruk.
Stressing on the need to preserve NSU's original vision and the dreams of sports persons of Manipur and all of India, AIMS said that the University came into existence to promote the sporting spirit of the country and needs to be saved at all cost.
Extending a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it conveyed hope that his leadership will help resolve the long-pending governance concerns at NSU.
