Shutdown derails normal life

IMPHAL, Sep 13: Normal life in the State was severely affected today on account of the total shutdown called by the CorCom in protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the State.
The CorCom called a total shutdown all over the State from 1 am today till the Prime Minister left the State.
All major markets including Khwairamband Keithel remained shut and traffic volume on all major roads of Imphal was quite low.
All public transports remained off roads and most educational institutes were closed.
However, there was no report of any untoward incident during the total shutdown.
All major markers remained shut in Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur districts too. Vehicular movement was also quite sparse in these districts.
On the other hand, security forces took up tight security measures across Imphal and other places in view of the Prime Minister’s visit and the total shutdown called by the CorCom.
