RIMS condemns assault on doctor

IMPHAL, Sep 19 : The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal has strongly condemned the unfortunate incident where a lady doctor was allegedly assaulted by attendants of a patient on September 18.
According to a press release, the incident reportedly occurred late in the evening while the doctor was on duty at the Casualty Department.
The incident has been reported to the authorities concerned, and an FIR has been lodged against one Ningthoujam Hemanta Singh, s/o (L) N Biradhaja Singh, Sagolband Thingom Leikai, Imphal West, Manipur for taking appropriate action as per law.
RIMS Imphal has denounced the alleged act of violence against a medical professional on duty as utterly unacceptable.
RIMS has also assured its staff and the public that the administration will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of healthcare workers within the institution.
It has further appealed to the public to maintain calm, extend cooperation to medical staff, and understand that violence within hospital premises endangers patient care and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
