IMPHAL, Sep 21: Many of the commandos sent to Jiribam to maintain law and order in the backdrop of the widespread violence seen in the district are not happy with the transfer/posting rotation.
The violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023 also spread to Jiribam and large-scale violence was also reported from the border district.
Considering the grave situation unfolding in Jiribam, more commando personnel were sent to the district in addition to the commandos already posted there.
With the situation improving steadily, some of the commandos have been withdrawn and posted elsewhere.
However, many commando personnel who have been doing their duties at Jiribam for over one year are still stationed there without any transfer or re-posting, sources said.
Whereas commandos posted at Moreh are transferred every three months, such a system has been eluding many commandos posted at Jiribam, and this has peeved the commandos, according to the sources.
Many of the commandos who were sent to Jiribam on June 8, 2024 are still stationed there even though it      has been more than one year.
However, some other commando personnel who came to Jiribam much later have been transferred to other places.
Many of the commandos posted at Jiribam have expressed keen desire for the authorities to carry out transfer/posting rotation in a systematic manner.
