IMPHAL, Sep 26: The All Manipur Excise Employees Welfare Association (AMEEWA) has served a one-month ultimatum to the State Government with a deadline of October 31, 2025 to approve the upgraded pay scales for all Excise Department posts as proposed by the Commissioner of Excise with notional effect from January 1, 2016 and cash payment from July 1, 2024.
The AMEEWA is also demanding extension of ration money and the benefit of 13 months’ pay to Excise personnel at par with Police personnel, and formal recognition of the 24/7 duty status of Excise personnel, providing necessary logistical support including communication equipment and vehicles for safe and efficient field operations.
If the Government fails to address these legitimate grievances by the deadline, the collective decision to proceed with an indefinite cease work strike will be put into action, said a press release issued by the AMEEWA.
It said that the responsibility for any consequent disruption to the State’s excise administration including revenue collection and enforcement activities will rest solely with the State authorities.
It added that this decision has been taken as a last resort, after exhausting all avenues of appeals, to secure justice and dignity for the Excise employees who have served the State with dedication under challenging and often hazardous conditions.
