FC Raengdai celebrates 2nd Premier League success, to launch academy soon

IMPHAL, Sep 28 : Prof Gangmei Angam, president of 2nd Premier League winners Football Club Raengdai has announced that the football club is all set to open its academy in Namching.
The announcement was the highlight during the felicitation programme of the squad and officials of the club who were recently crowned the champions of the 2nd Premier League organised by the All Manipur Football Association.
The felicitation programme was held this morning at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal.
Prof Ksh Birbal, Principal, DM College of Science and Dean, School of Human and Environmental Sciences, DM College; Aguilung Gangmei, president, Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA); K Joy Kabui, chairman, Technical Committee of the FC Raengdai were also among the dignitaries who presided the felicitation programme.
Speaking at the event, Prof Angam congratulated the players on their historic achievement in the domestic circuit just within three years of its establishment.
He said all preparations have been made to launch an academy of the football club in Namchi village. The club has acquired 5 acres of land to set up the academy, he said.
In compliance with the AIFF regulation, the club will also launch its U-19 and U-17 set ups, he said while adding that the U-19 team will be participating in the upcoming State League.
Although the 2nd Premier League concluded in July, the club received the trophy later and owing to this the felicitation programme was delayed, he added.
In this short span of time, the club has made significant steps clinching three titles including NM Gupta Trophy, a prestigious football tournament held in Assam, he said.
The club, based in Noney district, does not have an official sponsor and is thriving all thanks to the support and the love of the football enthusiasts of the State.
The football club proudly stands as a symbol of unity featuring players from both the hill and valley districts and different community backgrounds, he said while preaching the message of peace and unity at the occasion. The club also does not limit itself to football activities but also engage in different social works, he said while adding that the club will also join cleanliness drives in and around Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong on October 1 and 2 besides constructing two usable washrooms.
They will also host a blood donation camp on November 6 in connection with its foundation day, he said.
Prof Ksh Birbal, Principal, DM College of Science, who is also a certified coach, also lauded the players of the club in their recent achievements and their dedications and extended best wishes on their future endeavours.
Noting the role of coaches, execution of the plans on the field by players towards to scale success, he also advised the players to never forget the support of sports enthusiasts.
India international Dangmei Grace was also honoured with a memento on the occasion.
