IMPHAL, Sep 29 : Manipur are on top of the 2nd National Senior Sarit-Sarak Federation Cup tally till Day 2 with 6 gold and 1 silver medals as hosts Assam followed with 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Manipur’s Ningthoujam Thoisana bagged the -50 kg women’s Chainaba Ahanba gold medal beating Moirangmayum Riya of Assam as Haobam Sanuta beat Assam’s Potyakhi Gogoi for the -55 kg category gold medal.
Nikhita Gogoi of Assam meanwhile claimed the -60 kg category gold medal beating Haryana’s Mehak while her compatriot Riya Borguhain sealed the -65 kg category gold medal by beating Nidhi of Haryana. Khundrakpam Papori of Assam also picked the +65 kg category gold medal beating Shreya Yadav of UP in the final.
Elangbam Joichand of Manipur meanwhile claimed the men’s Chainaba Ama gold medal for -55 kg category beating Suprotim Gogoi of Assam in the final.
State’s Kshetrimayum Tomthin in the meantime earned the -60 kg category gold medal by defeating Deepak of Haryan as compatriot Maibam Ahongjao beat Mann of Haryana for the -65 kg category gold and Huidrom Hennithoi beat Nitish of Maharashtra for the -70 kg category gold medal.
The day also witnessed Haryana’s Rohit win the +70 kg category gold by defeating Manipur’s Laishram Prithibiraj in the final.
The competition is underway in Assam’s Singhaduwar Manipuri Community Hall, Sivasagar under the aegis of the Sarit-Sarak Federation of India.
