37th National Yogasana C’ship winners return to rousing reception

IMPHAL, Sep 3 : Manipur team represented by the Manipur Yoga Society were crowned the champions of the 37th National Yogasana Championship that was held from August 29 to 31 at Nagpur with a rich haul of 14 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals.
Notably, the championship organised by the All India Yoga Culture Federation also served as the trial selection for the 11th International Yogasana Championship 2026 to be held in Dubai.
The team comprising 43 members including 4 officials returned to a rousing welcome as they landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport today by the members of the Manipur Yoga society, family members and friends of the participants.
The yogi and yoginis who made the State proud and brought home medals from the championship (traditional event) are as follows.
Gold medallists:  Ningthoujam Thajamanbi  (+23 to 30 years), Ngangbam Deviyarani (+30 to 40 years), Moirangthem Nipamacha  (+30 to 40 years), Ayekpam Bedashastri Devi (+40 to 50 yrs), Ningthoujam Bheigyachandra (+40 to 50 yrs), Wahengbam Priyokumar (+50 to 65 years), Maibam Sanahanbi (+50 to 65 years), Ningthoujam Jit (+65 and above years) and Konjengbam Leimatombi (+65 and above years);
Silver medallists :  Wahengbam Ronibala (+23 to 30 years), Thingbaijam Bidyasagar (+23 to 30 years),  Soibam Mema (+40 to 50 yrs), Sagolsem Ganga  (+50 to 65 years), Ningthoujam Joy (+50 to 65 years), Leimapokpam Suniti (65+).
Bronze medallists : Angom Susmilia (+18 to 23 years), Pungsungbam Sonia (+30 to 40 years), Pukhrambam Satyabati (+50 to 65 years),  Khwairakpam Memcha (+65), and Huidrom Angou (65+).
Ningthoujam Toleima and Sougrakpam Ratankumar were also able to secure 4th and 5th place finishes in the 65+ traditional yoga competitions at the championship as Mangsidam Shatyabati finished fourth in the +50 to 65 years’ category competition.
Medallists in the Rhythmic competitions
Angom Susmilia (+18 to 23 years), Ningthoujam Thajamanbi  (+23 to 30 years), Ngangbam Deviyarani (+30 to 40 years), Moirangthem Nipamacha  (+30 to 40 years) and Soibam Mema (+40 to 50 yrs) meanwhile won gold medals in the Rhythmic yogasana competitions.
Wahengbam Ronibala (+23 to 30 years) and Pungsungbam Sonia (+30 to 40 years) in the meantime settled for the silver medals in the said event as Soibam Usharani (+40 to 50 yrs) finished third to secure a bronze.
Ayekpam Bedashastri and Pukhrambam Bijaya on the other hand secured 4th and 5th place finishes in the 41 to 50 years category competition.
The State team were led by Dr Labuktongbam Sibananda Sharma as manager, P Arunkumar as coach, Ningthoujam Angousana as judge and Ahongshangbam Prafullo as media-in-charge.
